iBike Dash turns iPhone or iPod touch into Cycling Computer

A company called iBike introduces the iBike Dash CC (Cycling Computer), a lightweight wireless bicycle computer system that turns any iPhone or iPod touch into your personal fitness trainer. The system is designed to help your quickly reach your goals by measuring your speed, power, heart rate, wind speed, time, trip, elevation, and calories to become healthier and fitter.

Using iPhone’s GPS chip and maps, the Dash also turns iPhone into a navigator for cycling. It offers 50 power-based and Heart Rate (HR) zone workouts and comes with ANT+ speed sensor with optional sensors for cadence and HR. The Dash CC is equipped with bike odometer.

Lenovo’s IdeaCentre Q150 review

The Lenovo has launched its new ultra-compact nettop which is called Idea centre Q150. The Q150 is just an update of its previous model. The Q150 features Intel Atom D510 processor, Nvidia’s Ion graphics and it also has some strong multimedia features. The Q150 nettop is priced reasonably and it has not compromised on its features to give a brilliant performance.

Design

The Q150 has a unique design and can match up to the word “compact”. If you see this from far you might think it’s a hard drive. The Q150 looks attractive and its size makes it portable. To achieve the glorious size Lenovo had to compromise on card reader slot & optical drive. The Q150’s exterior is very glossy and the cover has a black color with a Lenovo label and on the left bottom is Idea center etched on it. There is ample number of ports on one of the side and the other half bears nothing. The Q150 is equipped with beautiful glass stand and it aids the device to mount. The device also has VESA bracket so it could also be mounted.

The Q150 has taken a leap from single Atom chip and updated to Intel D510. The Intel D510 features twin 1.66 GHz cores. The Q150 has memory of DDR 2GB, hard drive of 500 GB and graphics card of NVIDIA Ion 2 DX10. There is no need of partition as NVIDIA has a dedicated 512Mb VRAM. Wi-Fi b/g/n is present for connectivity. There are HDMI, VGA, two USB 2.0, Ethernet and audio in/out ports. There are 2 more USB ports totally 4 USB ports and S/ PDIF digital output these two are hidden under a plastic flap. The Q150 misses out on optical drive. Performance

It plays video files of 1080 p smoothly and it can also stream files of Divx format via Wi-Fi network. It aces in all the simple tasks but multi tasking is not something which it is good at. Encoding is very slow. The 1.66GHz processor doesn’t aid to perk up its speed. Graphics performance is brilliant with NVIDIA ION graphics processor. The 3D Mark 06 test score of this device is 2,585 and overall CPU test score is 878. It doesn’t give an enthralling gaming experience but it is decent enough to play games. As its fete is multimedia it performs well in the following areas easily like playing movies, music and buffering videos. The device is bit slow in multi tasking apart from it the performance of the device is good and it is definitely worth the price.

AC Ryan announces Playon!HD2 and Playon!HD Mini2 media streamers

We saw a lot of media streamers last week at CES with the ones from ActionTec and Aerielle.

Here are two more from AC Ryan with the Playon!HD2 and the Playon!HD Mini2. Both use Realtek’s 1185 media processor, have Ethernet, and have access to the WePlayon! content portal.

The differences between the two involve the HD2 shipping with space for a 3.5 inch HDD, and the Mini2 has no drive. The HD2 also has an option of a USB 3.0 port.

It should be possible for the consumer to get either of these units next month. The HD2 will be $169, and the Mini2 will sell for $109.

Introduction
Quick Look: The Griffin AirClick USB is a RF remote control for Mac or PCs. The AirClick allows you to easily control several applications from across the room.

The Griffin AirClick USB comes bundled with PC plugins for IE, iTunes, PowerDVD, PowerPoint, Winamp, WinDVD and Windows Media Player. Griffin also has a SendKeys plugin, that does just what the name says. Unfortunately, no other plugins are available, guess no one was interested enough to write any.

AirClick operates over RF frequencies in the 433Mhz range. Unlike traditional remotes that operate on IR and require direct line-of-sight, RF can go through walls. The AirClick has an operating range of up to 60 feet, but with walls and interference it is actually considerably less. A USB extension is included and can be useful for getting the receiver away from your computer, which results in less interference.

The AirClick is definitely small and features a white design with grey rubber buttons. The clip on the back allows you to clip the remote somewhere when not in use, because it if gets lost you might not ever find it. A hold switch on the side prevents you from accidentally pressing buttons, much like an iPod.

On Mac’s the AirClick really doesn’t serve much of a purpose anymore since almost all new Mac come an Apple Remote. On the PC site however it can still server a purpose. The AirClick only has five buttons, big disappointment, and unlike the Apple Remote they are not arranged in a format that makes them useful. I would have liked to use it to navigate Media Center, much like an Apple Remote can be used to navigate Front Row, but it just doesn’t serve well for that purpose. The next disappointment is the lack of applications supported. But all of the applications that this remote seems useful with are included.

The best use I can think of for the AirClick USB is Power Point presentations. But at $39.99, I can think of much better presenters.

Overall

Overall, I think you should save your money and look at other options, the feature set it just too limited to make the AirClick worth nearly $40

The new Nike + SportWatch GPS at CES 2011

I saw this watch from shoe giant Nike last night at the CES 2011 event Pepcom. The Nike+SportsWatch GPS uses the Nike+ sensor based in the shoe for tracking time, pace, distance, calories burned as well as heart rate.

It also has something else: a GPS powered by TomTom. This allows the watch to track “what a user does, how they do it, and then motivates the user to improve on previous performances over the each route”. After the user is completed with their run or other exercises, they can take off their watch and connect it to a PC with the built-in USB dongle. From there, data is uploaded to the NikePlus.com site for viewing of completed runs, setting new goals, as well as interacting with other runners.

I’m sure that this technology comes in handy for those that like to run. However, I can’t help but wonder why this tech couldn’t be put on a new version of an iPod nano. After all, most people are mounting their nanos on their watches anyway. Perhaps in the next version of the nano.

Though the device boasts nVidia GeForce GT230 graphics card it doesn’t boost its gaming performance. It delivers a frame rate of 39 fps on Unreal Tournament 3 benchmark. Hp gives free upgrades but you have to keep a track of it. The TouchSmart offers good multimedia features to go in hand with the hug multi-touch display. The Webcam’s quality is not that good but it manageable for skype. The audio quality is good with impressive audio fidelity. Bass is balanced and is not dominating. The TouchSmart is really expensive than the regular PC machine. It is not better than the Sony L117FX/B but definitely it has serious other good features to give a tough competition to its envious competitors.

GenosTV Cyclops Remote Control to be on display at CES

It has been a while since we heard abou the GenosTV Cyclops Remote Control.

Back then, all we had was this very interesting prototype, but it looks like this particular guy is going to make an appearance at CES 2011. Fortunately, I am going to be there, so I am definitely going to be stopping by the booth.

We still don’t know if this is going to be an IR or Bluetooth remote. Maybe it will do both. I hope it will impress me.

This update, version 2.9-b1509, includes some hefty features that any Roku XR owner would be sure to appreciate.
