Samsung BD-D6700 & BD-D6500 3D Blu-ray Players

Samsung has released some Blu-ray in early 2011. At CES 2011 has released the Samsung BD-D6700 and BD-D6500 3D Blu-ray Players, with support for 3D conversion and Full HD upconversion. It has also been equipped Ultra Play Fast, One Foot Connection, DLNA certification, and integrated WiFi connectivity to access online content. While the Samsung BD-D6700 comes with two HDMI ports, one HDMO 1.4 for 3D and one HDMI 1.3. Both Blu-ray players has a dynamic design and very slim, and has a glossy black and silver color. But there is still not official pricing details.

Samsung BD-D7000 Ultra Compact 3D Blu-ray Player

There is a trend of Blu-Ray players getting smaller and smaller every year. However, Samsung is clearly leagues ahead of everyone in this aspect. In the recently held Consumer Electronics Show 2011, Samsung showcased the BD-D7000 Blu-Ray player, which features an ultra small design, looking more like an external DVD drive rather than a home theater disc player. Furthermore, it has a slot-loading mechanism with touch sensitive buttons along the front of the unit.

The BD-D7000 is 3D enabled and can convert 2D content to 3D. This feature will certainly come in handy for those who really crave 3D content. For those who prefer that their television screens remain in 2D, this player offers Full HD 1080p up-scaling, such that standard definition media can be upconverted into high resolution media.

Other features of the BD-D7000 include built-in WiFi. Together with Smart Blu-Ray, the content streaming service offered by Samsung, it allows the user to view any content available on the internet. YourMovie can also deliver recommendations of films to watch based on the user’s viewing history, making it a good movie companion. Additionally, its DLNA certification allows users to enjoy video or audio from it via the computer or any other DLNA compatible unit. Multi-format disc playback capability also enables the user to play DVDs and VCDs, making the BD-D7000 an all-in-one versatile player.

The installation of Samsung Apps also allows the Blu-Ray player to access a wide array of streaming-media services, like Netflix, Pandora, Vudu, YouTube, Twitter and Blockbuster. The SmartHub, a newly incorporated unified search feature, can look through all of the streaming-media services for content and make viewing recommendations.

Panasonic's 2011 Blu-ray players with new designs

At CES Panasonic introduced their four new Blu-ray players with new design updates and new features such as Internet, 2D-to-2D conversion and Apple iPhone remote control support. Welcome the new DMP-BDT310, DMP-BDT210, DMP-BDT110 and BMP-BD75 Blu-ray players.

Panasonic’s new 2011 Blu-ray players are slimmer, smaller and better looking but they are still packed with technology. Panasonic also boasts an extremely quick start-up time.
The flagship model is called DMP-BDT310 and it supports both 2D and 3D. With BDT310 Panasonic has also focused on improving audio quality, and a range of audio setting options have been integrated.

DMP-BDT110, DMPBDT210 and DMP-BDT310 come with 2D-to-3D conversion and Apple iPhone remote control support. Panasonic also highlights the new Viera Cast internet system with Skype support.
The cheapest model, BMP-BD75, is a more traditional player with a SD card reader, USB input, DLNA and MKV support, but no 3D playback capabilities.

New DIY Player

The idea behind the DIY Player concept brings back memories of a PDA classic.

The DIY Player is a gadget concept by designer Shao Wen that promises unlimited capability. The main unit is dominated by a display, and is effectively imagined as a blank slate.

On the top and bottom of the gadget are an expansion ports, designed to accept modules that give the DIY Player new features. Plug in a camera module to take pictures, or slap on a numeric keypad to send texts and make calls.

If the concept sounds familiar, that's because you're old enough to remember the Handspring Visor. The Palm OS PDA featured the Springboard expansion slot. It accepted modules ranging from cameras, voice recorders, MP3 players, mobile phone hardware, and even apps that required a lot of storage space.

Handspring, which was founded by former Palm employees, eventually merged with Palm. The company was responsible for creating the Treo—one of the earliest true smartphones that merged PDA and phone functionality.

While the Visor continues to enjoy strong community support even today (the last Visor was released back in September 2001), the idea of purchasing modules for additional functionality apparently didn't fly with the majority of customers.

That's why we are doubtful that the DIY player—essentially a modernized upgrade of the classic "pocket gadget with an expansion slot" concept—will find a strong consumer base. The DIY player is still a concept anyway, more a product of a designer's imagination rather than a gadget projected to hit the market.

Sony Walkman NW-E010 - New Cool audio gadgets

Sony has announced their new series of MP3 Players. This will be one of the hottest audio gadgets.

The Sony Walkman NW-E010 series will come in models like 1GB, 2GB and 4GB. Hence while you may not be able to upload your entire music collection on it, the players are ideal for the casual listener!

The E series gadgets will be available in 1GB, 2GB and 4GB versions.

The player has a built in USB-plug and comes with a three line color LCD display which disappears when off. It supports playback of MP3, WMA, Atrac, and AAC formats, however DRM is not supported.

The controls are located at the back and arranged in a convenient position.

The Walkman NW-E010 Series live up to the Sony name when it comes to style and apart from slim ergonomics the player also has a wide range of colors to offer. The Players are available in colors like violet, blue, pink, gold or black.

Sony promises to satisfy the audiophile inside you and has thrown in technologies like Clear Bass and Clear Stereo for crystal clear music delivery.

The Walkman NW-E010 Series gadget have been also equipped with an USB 2.0 connection. For direct PC transfers and will also charge when hooked to a PC. the player has a quick charge function with 3 minutes charge delivering 3 hours of music playback, with a full hour charge for up to 30 hours.

The Sony E series will go on sale in Japan from April 21 and will be available in a variety of colors. The NW-E016 with 4GB memory will be available in black, violet and pink whereas the NW-E015 and E013 offering 2GB and 1GB will be come in blue and gold in addition to the three colors. Sony will be releasing accessories like an arm band, sports clip and neckband for using the DAP on the move.
