The Parsons Purchase

The past few weeks Beau and I have finally started making some decisions and have been decorating the house. We put up the new Ikat panels from West Elm on the windows this past weekend {they look AMAZING}, I bought a new bed set for our room and planted flowers in the yard. The house finally feels like it is beginning to come together slowly. As everybody tells me, it takes time.
We have an old Ikea table that has playing the form of a desk since we moved in. Recently it likes to accumulate my magazines and piles of mail more then function as a writing desk. I think Beau had a larger desk in mind with lots of drawers, while I had the Parsons desk from West Elm in my mind. I have been dying for this desk for years. Well after finding the deal below, I convinced him it to purchase the prettier desk and not a big bulky desk. I loved the West Elm version but when I saw the one below from Home Decorators, I couldn't say no! I mean, whats the difference. So excited to share pictures when its done {maybe in a few months!}.
What is soon to be my new desk for $$180. Find it here.

The West Elm desk that looks so much like my new pretty blue desk but for $299. Find it here.

A pink room makes me happy

In my old apartment in DC I had a pink wall in my bedroom, I loved it! Splashes of pink through out a home I think are just so pretty and fresh! How can I get my beau to let me paint a room pink some day. We are fixing up our house, maybe pink will be able to make its way into some items! The photos below show just how pretty it
can be in a not to girly way.
The color of the year this year is Honeysuckle. What a pretty pretty pink!
I have a mini version of this pink print in our bedroom. Love the print.

How pretty is the light pink room in the back with the light shining in!

I die! I'm in love with this kitchen. The grey floor, the white cabinets, the pink walls, sigh!

Ooooo, the sitting chair is oh so adorable in front of the bright pink wall.

With some pink accents it doesn't make it to feminine. Pretty!

LOVE this bedroom! The bedding, the couch....the monogrammed side table!

How chic is this couch?!?!? Any chance it could take place of our dark leather couch?

I want to take a long nap on this crisp white bed with the pink painted room, it looks dreamy.

The State Department gets a Stylish Christmas!

I am a huge fan of David Stark. His creative work on events is absolutely amazing! I was quite surprised to see that the State Department dressed up quite stylish for the holidays and hired Mr. Stark, but I was not at all surprised to see how beautiful and chic he made it for Christmas! Enjoy the photos. See the rest at the WashingtonPost.Com.

Can I get the red and white striped carpet at our house? How about the gift box arch! LOVE!

Thanksgiving Day Table Decor

This Thanksgiving it going to be just Beau and I in Florida for Turkey Day. Making Thanksgiving day dinner for two people is becoming a lot of work. Even though there are only two of us I still want to make all of the trimmings and have a pretty table. Here are three simple table ideas that I am going to have at my house on Thursday. Dress up your table! Have fun!

Silver Creative has templates for napkin rings here. Each strip has
a place for guests to write what they are thankful for. Simple but so pretty.

A few years ago I made these glitter pumpkins and placed on the buffet. I always love a little glitz! Now with Martha's line at Michael's, it makes them way easy to make. Get the directions on her site here.... and be ready for a little glitter all over you for a few days!

Wheat is such a simple chic arrangement. I have had two bundles on my dining room table for weeks. Place them in glass vases, tie a ribbon around them. Voila, beautiful.

Happy Thanksgiving!

living with a boy

Moving to Florida was a big step. few years I have lived on my own in a very girly apartment in DC. My kitchen had pictures of cupcakes and a hot pink candelabra in it. My bedroom had a pink wall with a framed picture of the fabulous old movie with Doris Day, Pillow Talk. I had framed photos of girlfriends and family all over the place. Handbags, shoes and well....stuff took over my apartment. My bathtub was line with girly products that I would use, well once and awhile. I had a few of my collectible Barbies in my bedroom.
Well I guess what I am going towards is wow, life has changed.

I am lucky to have a boyfriend who is totally fine with me hanging up what I want and decorating the house how I wish. However, I still have this thought in my head that I can not go around decorating the place pink all over with a little sparkle here and there and pictures of Paris all over. Last week I almost finished the guest room and was pretty happy. I feel like it is a great compromise of boy & girl. Thoughts?

My side of the bedroom. My nightstand makes me feel like its home now. Beau's side, well I think he has a water glass and a light. Hey, its a start:)

I think I am going to bring this picture to work. I LOVE IT. However, is this OK for me to hang in our small house? I don't know. Where would I place it? The whole thing is about being a girl.
And all of my cupcake prints. What to do with these????
So here is the new bedroom! I am LOVING my black wall. Every night I say I am going to sleep in here and try out the new room. Maybe tonight? I love it.

There is so much more to do but it is coming along! I will keep you posted on the house changes. As everybody says, one day at a time!

redecorating

I saw this post a few weeks on Elements of Style Blog. Blogger Erin is fabulously talented. I LOVE the rooms she designs and have been following her for quite some time now. It is RARE that I do not like a thing she does, she is kind of.....well..fabulous!

Last week as I was sitting at the dining room table looking at my piles of stuff and dreaming of the day that beau's and my house is put together, I fell upon this recent posts of Erin. How pretty, sweet and glam is this project Erin is working on going to be? I dream of pink
chairs! Oooooo, it is nice to dream. I can not wait to see the finished project. Maybe it will inspire me to put all of my stuff away:) Cohabition is not easy. I want pink chairs, white furniture, zebra rugs and he wants dark woods and old museum posters. I know we will come to happy medium, it will only take time.

Target's Liberty Collection

Oh I OH SO LOVEEEEE Target! A few times of year they have great collaborations with designers for a fashion/home line at a Target price, not a designer store price. It is a FABULOUS idea that the wonderful company created. I still consider my Silver Holiday Behnaz Sarafpour skirt from Target one of my favorite things I own. So fun and if I would have bought it at Bloomingdale's it probably would have cost $300, the Target line was $30.

This month the wonderful British fashion house of Liberty of London has partnered with Target. The company known for floral prints is so perfect for Spring time. I am loving the whimsical ads So many items are already selling out. I must run to Target soon!

{Liberty of London is known for floral prints. I remember while studying abroad in London the brand was making a big comeback and the little floral scarves were spotted everywhere.}

{This floral lamp looks amazing in this white living room.}

{Where can I get this pink flowered dress...asap!
I want to have a tea party while wearing it.}

{I would LOVE a bike to drive around by the beach in Florida.
How cute would this be!}

{Mini pink cupcakes and french macaroons would be a
nice addition on this tray for my tea party.}

{New York had an amazing Target pop up store for a week. Wow. I wish I could make more day trips to the Big Apple!}

{Pretty floral beach dress belongs in my closet this spring. Pretty Florida
beach attire. A must.}

{Liberty of London prints were pasted onto these plates for a pretty wall arrangement. You think Beau would allow me to hang up pink plates in the kitchen?}
{Adorable for a baby girl!}

{oh yes, another floral dress that I must have!}
{This chair would be perfect outside by my new lemon tree in Ft. Lauderdale. A little outside office space?}
