Snakebots, Snake Robot Construction Workers

As we know, the construction of buildings or bridges is not an easy job. Not infrequently also occur during a construction accident is underway. Departure from it all, designed Snakebot. Snakebot can handle a dangerous construction work and maintenance.

Snakebot can slip through narrow places, swimming in lakes, plants, and even glide through the air. Mechanics will not be immediately double sliding, but thanks to rapid technological in climbing ability, Snakebot may soon overcome some dangerous jobs.

Equation: Animals reptiles with additional artificial intelligence with the same snakebot that can keep people from dangerous places.

From Virginia Tech University, Dennis Hong and Gabriel Goldman said their robot, named the Hydras, which can be quickly rolled up and down along the piers and columns, which are designed to inspect bridges, construction sites and high-rise buildings, the tasks injuring more than 1000 people per year.

Combination of innovative design engineers make the Hydras become an ideal climber. More than that, can snakebots rocking long on a series of connected metal and rubber module - back and forth, good joints that move up and down or side to side. Hydras that combines the two movements at each joint, so the tight grip when climbing.

Goldman says that he can easily equip Hydras with ultrasound scanners and cameras, so it can inspect bridges and buildings from possible cracks or damage. But now, Snakebot still in the lab. "We want to make it more flexible, so that these robots can only wrap around the pole and then leave."
