Sound projectors don’t really feature on the list of gizmos we bump into as often as we’d like to. Like Yamaha’s YSP-2200 digital sound projector that lends support to HD and 3D for an enhanced home theater experience. Part of its name comes courtesy of the company’s homegrown YSP front surround sound technology.
Employing True Cinema sound technology, the projector fits itself in front of a TV set quite comfortably. Standing short at 3.5”, the device has feet with adjustable height and a 100W subwoofer which can be set vertically or horizontally. Users can avail of 7.1-channel surround sound without hooking up extra speakers to it.
The YSP-2200 includes eleven Cinema DSP programs that encompass three Movie and three Music programs apart from five Entertainment options. These programs may be utilized to improve the gaming experience as well. The projector also decodes HD audio signals for the benefit of Blu-ray disc players and other digital sources.
“Most consumers want the benefits of 7.1 surround sound, but don’t want to compromise the look of their living room,” remarked Tom Sumner, President, Yamaha Electronics. “Yamaha’s YSP-2200 technology allows for the enjoyment of surround sound without additional speakers, unsightly cables and stands.”
Each of the speaker beam drivers embedded into this system has a digital amplifier as well as a digital amplifier. Its Music Enhancer functionality optimizes the audio from compressed sources like MP3 files and HDMI 1.4a. Another sound-enhancing feature is the IntelliBeam Automated System Calibration technology.
The Yamaha YSP-2200 costs $999.95. It includes a dock port that is capable of hosting optional peripherals like the YID-W10 wireless dock for iPod and iPhone, YBA-10 Bluetooth wireless audio receiver or the YDS-12 universal dock for iPod and iPhone.
