Sunny Days Ahead

A few of my best girlfriends from college are coming to visit me in Florida this weekend and I am BEYOND excited for the visit! We have a lot to celebrate: an engagement, a baby on the way and a way too late 30th birthday celebration! I can't stop thinking of my weekend ahead!

Of course when I heard they were coming I started envisioning a little backyard by the pool breakfast and bright and cheerful images started dancing through my head.

Floating Flamingos ~ oh yes, I received these as a gift, aren't they fun! A few of these in the pool with some cold beverages throughout the day and we might not leave the house.

~

Yellow Flowers - It is SPRING! Bright and cheery flowers have been decorating beau's and my house this week and will be cluttered around the house to bring my North East girls some sunshine.

~

Blue Acrylic Glasses and Yellow Linen - Like the combination? Breakfast table decor! I just got the glasses from Amazon and the chevron yellow linen from Spoonflower.

~

Florida Print - Three visitors coming from the snowy north, get excited! How cute is this print from Parada Creations on Etsy.

~

Can't wait for some girl time with some splashes of Florida Sunshine.

Sunday Soiree- Emiy is getting married!

{image courtesy of Em's facebook page}

One of my besties is getting married! Emily's fabulous fiance George proposed to her the weekend before we had our girly weekend in Philadelphia and Em kept it a secret all week until we go together. I am SO excited for her. It was a beautiful surprised weekend in Martha's Vineyard when George proposed at the top of a lighthouse {sigh, I know} and it was so sweet and special! I am so excited to hear about a year of planning for Emily and George. They are getting married in Martha's Vineyard next October and Em has mentioned a color palette of Eggplants, Browns, Hot Pinks, Oranges and maybe Grey. So it's Sunday and I'm dreaming of a soiree....her wedding! Here are some thoughts...

I think this purple bouquet over this monogrammed is well, beautiful!

Hello AMAZING purple and grey dessert table!

{image from Snippet & Ink}

I know she is getting married in Martha's Vineyard and not a wine vineyard, but I love the colors of plum in this inspiration board.

Planning in Purple for Emily
{inspiration board created by me!}

Ok Em this is ONLY a start. I can see George wearing fun converse and you rocking fabulous shoes under your dress. A wedding at the vineyard, purples, greys, fun fun fun. Pictures at the lighthouse. Lanterns hanging from the ceiling, photo boards of all of the wonderful memories you too have shared. Get inspired! I can't wait to hear all of your stories in the year ahead!

Happy Girlfriend Friday!

Wow, how is it already Friday again! The week has flown by! I started off my Friday with a nice quick catch up with my bestey Brandi. Recently we have been playing phone tag nonstop and I thought, I will give her a try with the few minutes I have. It was so nice to say hi and start off my Friday on the right foot! There is nothing better I believe then a little time to catch up with a girlfriend. I am heading to DC this weekend to help a good friend with a wedding and also to see a lot of my bestey's in the Nation's Capital. I can't wait to see everybody even in the short time I will be there.
There truly is nothing like a great group of girlfriends. I knew this before moving to Florida and I realize it even more so now! I have met a few potential good girlfriends and it makes me TRES excited.

Whether in Florida, DC, NYC, Vermont, Philly, California or around the world, stay in touch! Write, call, email, text, just say hi. Happy Girlfriend FRIDAY to all of the wonderful ladies in my life! xoxo~Becca

me and a cosmo

I think that this afternoon I might dress up, lay on the couch and drink a Cosmo...or two! I have only been in Florida for a few days but am already missing my girlfriends. I love my beau and am glad I am here but hey, watching Sex and the City 2 with the girls just doesn't get much better.

I guess it was about 9 years ago that I was an intern in NYC. Christa and I use to run upstairs to her cousins apartment to watch Sex and the City every Sunday night. We would search websites for where the girls hung out in NYC and save all our pennies to indulge in a cocktail there as well. Oh the fun memories!

The first movie came out a couple of years ago and I had the great company of my sisters and my mom. It was a weekend away in Scottsdale Arizona and we made sure to have tickets before we even arrived.

I think I may go see a matinee tomorrow and celebrate having great amazing fabulous girlfriends! I am a lucky girl:) It doesn't matter where we live. Maybe we can all go to Abu Dhabi for the weekend like they did.

.....I thought SJP looked FAB at the premiere in NYC!

....ooooo I just love her! The hat from the last premier and this premier are so amazing!

I hope you all find a little time to indulge in a showing of Sex and the City 2! Girlfriends, cocktails, amazing clothes, relationships, jobs....the show and movie are just fabulous. I am toasting to all of you from my couch.

The Past Few Weeks

Hello! I know, I have been a bit MIA these past few weeks. But here I am, I am back! I have had so much going on but I am back and will be blogging regularly now from my new home in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. Yes, I have finally made the flip to Sunny Florida to be with my beau. For now I thought I would share what I've been up to recently.

~My besties from DC threw me such a nice going away party in Washington. Everything was pink. It was adorable and SO fitting. I couldn't ask for more wonderful people that I met over the past 7 years!~

~I moved. Yep, this is the look of our living room right now. Do you like the decor? I call it the messy boxes look. I am wishing that when I wake up some little elves unpacked it during the night. What a job ahead! I have a lot of stuff!!!~

~Beau and I went to China! It was an amazing trip! The picture below is from the plane ride over. Yep, the snack was noodles, it made me laugh. ~

More to come from the land of sun and flip flops. Love you all!

NYE Attire

I am so happy to be ringing in the New Year tonight at my bestie from 2nd grade's house. Besse and her wonderful hubbie have planned a fun night for all of us. Instead of getting together for drinks at a bar or just standing around chatting they have organized an official game night to ring in 2010. When I say official I mean, they have teams, game stations and......prizes! I am really excited! Game night, New Years Eve party, what to wear? I still need a little glitz, a little sequin, but something casual to hang out with and rock out to rock band with. I love the little sweater with sequin from H&M, some hot pink lipstick, jeans, sparkly makeup, I'm ready to go.

Happy New Year Game Night
I hope everybody has a fabulous evening. Happy 2010!
May the next decade bring you only fabulous, wonderful, amazing things!!!!!

snow days

I woke up yesterday to a winter wonderland outside of my apartment. I loved it! Snow Snow Snow! The streets in DC were empty, peaceful and white. I decided to spend my day locked up in my apartment enjoying some much needed rest. After cleaning my apartment from top to bottom, reading my piles of magazines and catching up on much needed DVR, I ventured outside to the store.

I grew up with a lot of snow days off from school. WV had a lot of snow in the mountains. I had the desire to run and jump through the snow on the way to the grocery store...and I did. There is something about the snowy weather that made me feel like a kid again.
What else is better then having some champagne, Christmas Tree lit and inviting a good girlfriend over for dinner and a movie. I made Cerys and I Christmas cocktails (St. Germaine, Cranberry Juice and Prosecco). We dined on yummy comforting Chicken Noodle Soup and watched UP (what a cute movie!).

Chicken Noodle Soup, so easy. I created my own recipe by sauteing garlic, onions, carrots, tomatoes, celery, fresh thyme, salt and pepper and olive oil. I went the easier route and used boxed vegetable broth and sliced chicken breasts. My apartment smelled delightful and it was warming and perfect for a nice winter day.

It was a wonderful snow day! Today the sun is out, the snow looks like a white snowy delight. I love it! Snow, winter, the holidays! Happy Winter!

Terrain @ Styers

After a long stressful weekend (last week) I decided it was best for me to head out of DC. I packed up my stuff and hopped on the train to Philly for the day. My dear friend Christa and her hubby Jerry were so sweet to allow me to tag along on their holiday filled day at Terrain. I had no idea what I was getting into.

Terrain at Styers is the amazing home/garden/lifestyle store that the fabulous creators of Anthropologie opened outside of Philadelphia. Terrain is way more then a store! I had thought we were going to a nursery, ok, whatever. Terrain was amazing! It had lightly snowed the evening before, so as we walked up to the store, the Christmas Trees for sale were covered in white and smelled like the Holiday Season. There was a fire pit with blankets on benches next to the trees. We found out later that we had just missed the afternoon marshmallow roast! (next time).

The Poinsettia house was filled with multiple types of poinsettia's, orchids, hydrangeas with a mix of fancy gardening tools. My eye is always drawn to the flowers and the fixtures thinking, "How could I use this for a party?". The fancy gardening tools....since I do not have a yard, nope, not now.

The main store had displays of bath items, cooking supplies, light fixtures, stationary, trees, flowers, it was gorgeous. If I had a house I would want to come here and buy everything to decorate with and plant around the yard. I settled on two small paper white bulbs and a snow pine scented candle. The display of bulbs was so impressive compared to buying them at the local Home Depot. The Voluspa candle makes me feel like I have a real pine tree instead of a 3ft tinsle tree.

At the back of the store is where the impressive cafe stands. We grabbed some coffee and cookies but I was very intrigued by the organic yummy brunch menu. Next time I visit Christa and I are totally driving there for a dinner. I believe there is an Anthropologie across the street! hello!

So if you are around Philly make it a point to visit Terrain. It was a wonderful place! SO much more then a nursery.....something for everybody!

xoxo

I want to start but apologizing for my delay in blogging. For the next few weeks I may have a few delays on the blog front. I also may be changing the blog name. No worries, I will fill you in if I do! I am going through quite a lot of flip flops. I'll post soon. Happy Holidays!

sweets for Jenn

This weekend we hosted Jenn's baby shower in Boston. Jenn is the first one of my group of girlfriends to have a baby and yes....it's going to be a girl! When we found out that it was going to be a baby girl we knew that the shower would be covered in pink. After many emails back and forth we decided on Bubbles & Bubbly. Lots of pink! Pink everywhere! We greeted Jenn by blowing bubbles, bubbly champagne, bubbly pink lemonade, pink bubblegum, pink balloons. It was super girly and we can't wait to meet little Leila and shower her in more pink gifts.

I'm a little obsessed with everything that Amy Atlas creates. She created this amazing white dessert buffet and I was completely inspired by it. Christa bought the balloons, I bought lots of pink candy and at the end it turned out pretty cute! Below is my pink pic, unfortunately my iPhone pic doesn't look as nice as Amy's, bought it was adorable in person and a day to remember!

Maybe we can all get together and create the same thing for little Leila's sweet 16!

Sunday Soirees - Mariana & Blake's Welcome Party

So if there is one thing that gets me so excited, it's a soiree! A party, an event, a celebration, a wedding, an extravagant affair, a dinner party, any and all of them. I decided since recently I have been in a current rut with my day job (I am in the business but dream of bigger and better) and the big job hunt, I would start a weekly post my party dreams. Sunday Soirees is my posting of party ideas, dinner parties I wish I could plan, inspirations for others.

This week I put together an inspiration board for my friend Mariana's Mexican wedding welcome party. Mariana is a great DC friend of mine. She is getting married on the Mexican Riviera Maya in February. She is planning a welcome party the first evening and had mentioned a traditional Mexican theme, how fun! I saw these Papel Picado banners in Martha Stewart Wedding this season and I think they are a MUST for her. I love the idea of the new "little white dresses" for the bride with a bright pink lipstick. Mini tacos and mini margaritas, lots of candles, bright flowers and a mariachi band. More ideas to come for the beautiful reception at the resort. It is going to be an amazing weekend for the couple, for their friends and family. How fun, a Mexican wedding fiesta!

a good vacation

I read this article today about Netflix's vacation policy and got to daydreaming about being on vacation. I know a lot of people in my business who say, "Oh, I never get to use all of my vacation days every year because I'm so busy!". Well.....that's not me! This article talks about how America has the shortest vacation policy, we are the biggest workaholics, etc. etc. etc. I may only be 27, but I have already learned the importance of a good vaca!

My weekend with my besties was so relaxing. The lake house was amazing and it was SO sweet for Jenn's sister Nichole to have us visit. I got to spend a few days in Ft. Lauderdale with Beau before my mom flew down. We drove to Naples and enjoyed the sunshine, running, drinking wine, reading, shopping and eating. The usual great components of a good vaca.

It has been hard to be back! I think it has more to do then being back from vacation. I think it is because I am officially ready to head to Florida and did not want to leave beau this time. Hopefully I can update you with some good things next week about my move:)

Day Trip to Philly

I haven't set the exact date, but I know my move is coming up soon. I have been learning to take advantage of every minute I have to spend my time with friends. One of my bestest girlfriends from college lives in Philly. I hadn't seen Christa for so long! We only live two and a half hours away and I know that soon I will not be a train ride but a plane ride away. I decided last minute to take full advantage of my Sunday off and hopped on the train after my event at work, late Saturday night. What a fabulous day we had out in Philly! If you haven't been to the city of brotherly love recently or are planning a day trip there, take our quick trip list and go!

After a few cups of coffee we managed to pull ourselves off the couch and grab a QUICK breakfast. Marathon on the Square has AMAZING breakfast quesadilla (get it with turkey sausage. yum.) A few bites into our yummy dish we realized we had to run off to house hunting. I got to tag along with the DeSiderato's while they looked at potential condos. Fun for me! After looking at units with views and a building with a pool, Christa and I decided it was time for some pampering and shopping time in shopping in Rittenhouse Square.

The Anthropologie there is awesome! The building is so interesting and its a great 4 level store. I am now obsessed with a few new items. Thanks Anthro. We always seem to be able to manage spending at least an hour there browsing. A few shops later we decided we needed a break and got a table at Parc. I felt like I was in Paris! Parc is an adorable Bistro and Cafe. It was the perfect place to drink rose and people watch. I could go to Parc everyday, read a book an drink some wine, I'm in love! After some yummy frites and a few glasses of wine we decided we were ready for something sweet.

The day ended with a trip to the chocolate filled restaurant, Max Brenner's Chocolate by the Bald Man. OMG. I don't know what to say, Brandi, you would have been in love! Chocolate chocolate chocolate. Around the table we had chocolate martinis, chocolate "concoctions", gooey cakes and ice cream sandwiches. It was out of control. I would go again, however....I would share! I have a complete sweet tooth, but couldn't finish my cookie sandwich with marshmallow fluff, peanut butter ice cream, soft baked chocolate cookie and peanut butter dip.

When I got on the train at 9:30pm I was full, relaxed, sleepy and SO happy that I had gone up to Philly for the day. I'm glad I made the day trip fun filled and packed. I wish I lived in the same city as my sisters and my besties, maybe some day, for now the Amtrak or a plane ticket will have to do even if its for a day full of wine, shopping and good girl time.

Wedding Blogs

Ok, so I have this thing with wedding blogs. No, Beau and I are not tying the knot soon. I think it is the business I am in, I miss last year's Summer of Love or I just love a pretty wedding:) Daily I check out Style Me Pretty and Ritzy Bee and drool over the beautiful photos they post. I wanted to share a few blogs that posted photos from my last two weddings at the Newseum. The photography at both weddings was AMAZING!

Matt Mendelson photographed Alicia and Ryan's wedding. The were such a beautiful couple inside and out and I think his pictures captured that well!

The photos on Bridal Bubbly are all from Tiwi and Bryce's wedding that I wrote about a couple of weeks ago. The wedding was really wonderful!

For fun I included a few pictures from my girlfriends Summer of Love last year. Brandi, aka Miss Bliss, had some gorgeous wedding photos as well. The other photo is from Christa's wedding that took place at her parents house, this was my favorite pic of Christa and the girls at the end of the night. ooooooo....the Summer of Love! I will post about that later on this Summer:)
