Double blow for Google, which has made two announcements today: the arrival of Nexus S smartphone and Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the first terminal to be provided with this operating system. Let’s more specifications and price here.
The curiosity about the mysterious Nexus S smartphone finishes today, with its formalization in parallel with the launch of Android Gingerbread (Android 2.3), the latest mobile operating system sponsored by the giant Mountain View. The Nexus S smartphone is therefore a GSM quad-band handset (850, 900, 1800, 1900) and 3G/HSDPA 7.2 Mbps / HSUPA 5.76 Mbps tri-band (900, 2100, 1700) with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n wireless connectivity and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, A-GPS receiver and integrated NFC module.
Contrary to some rumors, Nexus S no integrates a Samsung Orion processor but a CPU Samsung ARM Cortex-A8 Hummingbird, as in Samsung Galaxy S. The hypothesis of the installation of Orion processor (ARM Cortex-A9) was not plausible, given the time of issue. Nexus S offers a 4-inch display with 480 x 800 pixel and super AMOLED 235ppi technology, capacitive and multitouch. The device has dimensions of 124 x 63 x 10.9 mm for 129 grams and has 16GB integrated flash memory (NAND type).
Besides accelerometer and a three axis gyroscope are integrated various sensors for light, proximity and electronic compass. In the back of the Nexus S, there is a 5 megapixel camera with ability to record 720p, autofocus and flash. The 1500 mAh battery has a battery life of 3G covers in 7 hours, 14 hours on 2G and 18 to 30 days in idle (3G or 2G). On board there Android 2.3 Gingerbread, with a long list of new (renewed interface, support SIP for VoIP, WiFi hotspots, voice commands …), Google mobile applications and access to Android Market.
Nexus S will be available in the U.S. since 16 December, alone or with T-Mobile subscription online or Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile in stores, and from December 20 in the UK by Carephone Warehouse and Best Buy. As for prices, Nexus S will be sold at $ 199 with T-Mobile contract for two years, or $ 529 if single sale.
